Important summits in the USA, Russia, Copenhagen can be attended by the Prime Minister of India as he is not a Member of the Lok Sabha

Subroto Roy notes that since Dr Manmohan Singh is the first Indian Prime Minister ever to have chosen with deliberation not to be a member of the Lok Sabha, he has been free to hold important summits at the White House, Kremlin, Copenhagen etc while the Lok Sabha debates mundane matters like the Liberhan Commission report, inflation etc.

    It mocks the Constitution of India to interpret it in that way that the PM can be nominated by the majority party leader without having him to be a member of the Lok Sabha. The constitution is clear that the elected members shall choose their leader from amongst themselves i.e the one from the class of elected members and not any outsider. It is the corrupt collusion of all the parties to misinterpret the constitution and give a sweet choice to people like Dr. Singh to be the PM at the cost of Indian poor and no protest is raised in the press or media or in judicial forums .
