My meeting Jawaharlal Nehru

After Canada, my father became First Secretary and Trade Commissioner at the Indian High Commission, Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). This is my parents and myself greeting the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru at Colombo airport on October 13 1962. I became an Indian nationalist then, and soon afterwards donated my entire saved pocket money over nine months of Rs 63 to “Chacha Nehru” as he apparently needed it to fight the Chinese Communist Army who had attacked us (in fact, during his visit to Colombo).
